9dw: Self-Titled (CD)
Spacey electronic jazz-fusion from the Land of the Rising Sun!
Synthesizer heavy on every track, this album retains a highly organic feel--jammy at times but never unorganized. Kensuke Saito, founder, guitarist, and keyboardist of the group, obviously has his sights set on the new. By crafting the vibe of the album around his electronic piano, Saito has spearheaded thirteen cuts that make fusion fresh again. Moon Safari-era Air is evoked in “Begin to Sing for Appetite” and “Thinking Makes a Mistake,” while laser-blast funk abounds on “Synthetic Avenues” and “Walk the Diorama.” No doubt about it, this is a smooth listen from end-to-end.

1. Stone and Fruits (4:14)
2. Balancer (2:51)
